Labelterreinen (en: Label Grounds) are camping sites in the Netherlands, specifically intended for scouting. The label is a quality mark for the affiliated sites: they must comply with a number of guidelines. The management of the grounds is in the hands of volunteers who are often also members of Scouting Nederland.
Since 1975 the national organization of the Netherlands started to make a list of camping sites throughout the country an gave them a “Label”, insuring visitors a good quality facility’s.
Set up of a Labelterrein
Scouting groups can camp independently on the label grounds. The tents can be placed far apart so as not to be disturbed by other campers. Often a campfire can be made and there is freely accessible nature in the area. Pioneeringwood, a limited scoutshop assortment, and other scouting materials are available in many grounds. The grounds almost always have room for sports and games.
Opening
Most areas are open all year round. Non-Scouts and Scouting families are welcome during quiet periods. Other areas are only open during the high season and some busy weekends.
Benefits
A member of Scouting Nederland has to pay less for an overnight stay. Some label sites have facilities for disabled campers.
