History

In 1922, the School management was changed from the Buddhist Theosophical Society to the Y.M.B.A. and Dr H.K.T Zilva became the new manager of Maliyadeva College

Maliyadeva Scout Group began in the year 1922 as 3rd scout group Kurunegala.1st Christ Church Kurunegala & 2nd St Anne's College in same year, but present both scout groups are not here. Also no college call Christ Church. Due to the ongoing second world war, the school buildings and land was taken over by the Army in 1942. Due to that all sports & activities are stopped in college. In 1960 Maliyadeva Scout Group registered in Sri Lanka Scout Association as 0173 with Mr. M.M.W.Mevaddana and Mr. Steven Perera. By 1965 the amount of senior scouts increased from 3 to 60 scouts.

Scouting

• 1987 Mr. Jevan Sirisena was selected for the Asian Pacific Jamboree.
• 1991 Mr. Janaka Ediriweera participated in the Australian Jamboree.
• 1992 Mr. Samith Gunasekera participated for the World Jamboree held in Tasmania.
• 1992 Participated 4th National Jamboree @ Kurunegala.our scout group took large part for success this event.
• 1996 Runners Up of the annual exploration hike which was organized by Explorer's Club, University of Peradeniya.
• 1996 participated the "J.J.P. Dehigama Memorial Challenge Trophy" which was organized by Kingswood College, Kandy.and Abeetha Edirisinghe won Best Explore Award.
• 1997 In October Senior Scout Sampath Ranawaka passed away.
• 1997 Mr. M.S.T Bogamuwa and Mr. I.S Rajagara were selected for the National team for the 18th Asia Pacific Jamboree.
• 1997 Champions of the "J.J.P. Dehigama Memorial Challenge Trophy" which was organized by Kingswood College, Kandy.
• 1998 Mr. P.D. Weerakoon and Mr. D.K. Atapattu were selected for the national team for the 3rd SAARC and & 13th National Jamboree of India held in Orissa.
• 1998 Mr.Jeewantha Kumara & Sumeda Amarasinghe Ewarest.
• 1998 Champions of the annual exploration hike which was organized by Explorer's Club, University of Peradeniya.
• 1998 Mr Danushka Karunanayake,Ravindra Senevirathne & Hasanga Senanayake were selected for the Sri lankan contingent for 19th World Scout Jamboree held in Chile,South America.
• 1998 Participated 5th National Jamboree @ Pallekele,Kandy
• 1998 Mr Chaminda Konthesingha was selected for the Sri Lankan contingent for 12th Nippon Jamboree held in Akita,Japan.
• 1999 Champions of the Distict Rally,and Won flag for best all rounding team
• 2000 Champions of the "J.J.P. Dehigama Memorial Challenge Trophy" which was organized by Kingswood College, Kandy.
• 2000 Champions of the annual exploration hike which was organized by Explorer's Club, University of Peradeniya.
• 2001 Runners Up of the "Aura of Nature" exploration hike which was organized by Girl's High School, Kandy.
• 2002 Mr. Nuwan Gunarathne, Mr. Malaka Ekanayaka, Mr. Chamara Jayaweera, Mr. Asitha Bandara, Mr. Supun Shiwantha, Mr. S.A.G.K. Amarasinghe, Mr. Neranjan Wijerathne, Mr. Anurudda Sampath and Mr. Sankha Bandara were selected for the national team for the 14th National Jamboree of India held in Raipur.
• 2002 Champions of the annual exploration hike which was organized by Explorer's Club, University of Peradeniya.
• 2002 Participated "Anjana Daladawatta Memorial Exploration Hike" organized by st Thomas' College Matale.
• 2002 Participated 6th National Jamboree of Srilanka at Balapitiya.
• 2002 Participated 45th World Scout Jamboree On The Air(Jota)& 6th World Scout Jamboree On The Internet(Joti)
• 2002 Mr.Chandane Bandara, Mr.Kosala Amunugama, Mr.Hasitha Wanninayake, Mr.Lasitha Balasooriya, Mr.Asanka Eriyawa, Mr.Chanake Ehelegolla,were selected for the national team for the 20th World Jamboree held in Thailand.
• 2003 Participated "Rajans Jim 2003"held at "Lake view park"International Scout Center,Kandy
• 2003 Champions of the annual exploration hike which was organized by Explorer's Club, University of Peradeniya.
• 2003 Champions of the "Sadalanka 2003" Kurunegala sub distric Scout Rally at Sadalanka National School grounds.
• 2003 participated the "J.J.P. Dehigama Memorial Challenge Trophy" which was organized by Kingswood College, Kandy.and A.R.C.B.Algama won Best explore Award.
• 2003 Champions of the "eyes of Nature Hike" Kandy.
• 2003 Participated "Anjana Daladawatta Memorial Exploration Hike" organized by st Thomas' College Matale.
• 2003 participated at the "Flames of Autumn Annual Camp Fire 2003" Organized by the 10th Colombo Ananda College Scout Group.
• 2004 Chanpions of "Chalanger 2004"Fun Games organized by Guide Company of Maliyadeva Balika Vidyalaya.
• 2004 Third Place of the annual exploration hike which was organized by Explorer's Club, University of Peradeniya.
• 2004 Participated "Anjana Daladawatta Memorial Exploration Hike" organized by st Thomas' College Matale.
• 2004 participated the "J.J.P. Dehigama Memorial Challenge Trophy" which was organized by Kingswood College, Kandy.
• 2005 Champions of the "National Challenge Trophy" orienteering competition which was organized by Bandarawela Central College,Bandarawela.and A.R.C.B.Algama won Best explore Award.
• 2005 Organized "Shramadana Camping"at Athugala mountain range for World Environmental Day in collaboration with the Community led Environmental Awareness Network(CLEAN).
• 2005 Champions of the "Annite's Camporee" which was organized by St Anne's College,Kurunegala.
• 2005 participated the "J.J.P. Dehigama Memorial Challenge Trophy" which was organized by Kingswood College, Kandy.
• 2005 Participated the annual exploration hike which was organized by Explorer's Club, University of Peradeniya.
• 2005 Participated "Adherence of Nature" Exploration competition organized by st Joseph's Balika Vidyalaya,Kegalle.
• 2005 Participated "Anjana Daladawatta Memorial Exploration Hike" organized by st Thomas' College Matale.
• 2005 Participated "Esprit The Nature Exploration Hike" organized by Ranabima Royal College,Ganoruwa.
• 2006 We won award for highest number of President's scouts in Sri Lanka.
• 2006 participated at the "Annual Camp Fire 2006" Organized by the 10th Colombo Ananda College Scout Group.
• 2006 Participated 7th National Jamboree of Srilanka & SAF Friendship Camp at Nuwara Eliya.
• 2006 Participated "Paradise of Challenges"Beach Volleyball Competition & Camp Fire Organized by Ananda Balika Vidyalaya,Colombo.
• 2006 Participated 49th World Scout Jamboree On The Air(Jota)& 10th World Scout Jamboree On The Internet(Joti)
• 2007 Mr. R. Algama, Mr. T. Weerasekare and Mr. Amunugama were selected for the national team for 9th International Adventure Programme held in India.
• 2007 Mr R.Algama & Mr M.Alawala participated "Sinharachchi Memorial Expedition"Organized by Mahamaya Girls' College,Kandy.
• 2007 Third Place of Anjana Daladawaththe Memorial Exploration Compettition organized by St.Thomas College,Matale.
• 2007 Participated to J J P Dehigama Memorial Internatinal orienteering Competition.
• 2007 Participated "Heroes Challenge Exploration Hike" organized by Kegalu Balika Vidyalaya,Kegalle.
• 2007 Champions of the "National Challenge Trophy" orienteering competition which was organized by Bandarawela Central College,Bandarawela.
• 2007 Runners Up of the "Bandaranayake Challenge Trophy" which was organized by Bandaranayake Vidyalaya,Gampaha.
• 2007 Champions of MAST friendship Exploration Competition organized by Maliyadeva Models School,Kurunegala.
• 2008 Third Place of Sangamith Challenge Trophy organized by Sangamiththa Girls College,Galle
• 2008 Runners Up of Journey Through Nature Exploration Competition Organized by Trinity Colege ,Kandy
• 2008 Champions of Heroes' Challenge Exploration Competition organized by Kegalu Balika Vidyalaya,Kegalle
• 2008 Organized "Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation Training Programme" conducted by Teaching Hospital,Kurunegala & Ministry of Health.
• 2009 Runners up of Ferguson Challenge Trophy organized by Ferguson High School, Ratnapura.
• 2009 Runners Up of the "Sagamith Challenge Trophy" which was organized by Samgamitta College,Galle.and I.M.K.S.Senadera won Best Explore Award.
• 2009 Runners Up of the "J.J.P. Dehigama Memorial Challenge Trophy" which was organized by Kingswood College, Kandy.and I.M.K.S.Senadera won Best Explore Award.
• 2009 participated at the "Flames of Autumn Annual Camp Fire " Organized by the 10th Colombo Ananda College Scout Group.
• 2010 Participated in 8th National scout Jamboree( Hambanthota) With the participation of scout Leaders Mr.Asanke Eriyawa(W.B.) Mr.Chanaka Ehelagolla (W.B.) and Mr.Ranil Algama and 55 scouts.
• 2011 Scout Leader Mr.Asanke Eriyawa (W.B.) and 11 scouts were participated in 22nd world scout Jamboree in Sweden representing Srilanka.
• 2012 Champions of "Devians Endeavor challenge trophy" organized by Maliyadeva Balika Vidalaya Kurunegala.
• 2012 participated in 29th APR Jamboree and Srilanka Centenary Jamboree ( Dambulla- Srilanka) With the participation of Scout Leaders Mr.Asanke Eriyawa(W.B.) Mr.Chanaka Ehelagolla (W.B.) Mr.Kosala Amunugama(W.B.) and Mr.Ranil Algama and 50 scouts.. Represent a cultural event in Arena Display of the closing ceremony 1st time in Maliyadeva scout History.
