The Scout handbook from the early 1980s ISBN# 0-671-24927-4 is an invaluable resource for teachinf orienteering to any age group. pages 184-195 cover everything you need to know about orienteering. I have used it to teach both Scouts and Venturers successfully for several years now. It is written so simply, even Venturers who really struggled with the Land Navigation classes at JROTC were able to finally "get it".
