Marin Council is a local council (#035) of the Boy Scouts of America located in the states of Southern California. It covers Marin.

History

One of the six councils that serves the San Francisco Bay area, the Marin Council was formed in 1910. In 1918 it absorbed the Mill Valley and Sausalito Councils. The Marin County's Scouting community was born just six months after the national Boy Scouts of America organization in 1910.

Scouting Program

Roundtable meets on the 2nd Thursday each month 7PM at ____. Roundtable provides supplemental training for volunteers at the unit level. The objectives of roundtables are to provide leaders with program ideas, information on policy and events, training opportunities, and an enhanced network of contacts and other resources while also providing unit leaders with a voice in formulating direction at the district level.

Jamboree Crew
Active "Bridging the World." This unit focuses to visit every worldwide scouting Jamboree, including Switzerland, the "permanent mini-Jamboree" in summer 2018, and then the 24th World Scout Jamboree in 2019, which will be held at Summit Bechtel Reserve in West Virginia.

Camps

  1. Camp Marin Sierra - Primary summer camp facility for this council. Located at Chubb Lake in the Tahoe National Forest.
  2. Camp Tamarancho - 480 acres of meadows, redwood- and oak-forested campsites. Famous for world-class bike trails.

Tamarancho Biking

  1. Tamarancho Biking - The Marin Council operates Camp Tamarancho in the hills above Fairfax. We provide access to several excellent mountain biking trails on camp property in partnership with the Friends of Tamarancho.

Order of the Arrow

Talako Lodge - Order of the Arrow The Los Padres Council is served by this Order of the Arrow Lodge. The Order of the Arrow (OA) is the National Honor Society of the Boy Scouts of America for Boy Scouts, Venturers, and Scouters elected by their fellow Scouts according to OA membership requirements, and inducted into membership by an OA lodge.
