Dame Leslie Balfour Whateley, DBE, TD (28 January 1899 — 4 July 1987) was a Director of the Auxiliary Territorial Service (ATS) during the Second World War.[1]

Born as Leslie Violet Lucy Evelyn Wood, she was also Director of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts from 1951 to 1964. In 1948 her writings were published by Hutchinson Publishing in Melbourne entitled As thoughts survive, a monograph with a preface by the then-Princess Royal.[2]

In 1965, Dame Leslie was awarded the Bronze Wolf, the only distinction of the World Organization of the Scout Movement, awarded by the World Scout Committee "for exceptional services to world Scouting".
