Draft Cub Letter

RE: Fall 2019 – Vista Cub Scout News

On behalf of the San Diego-Imperial Council BSA we want to let you know what opportunities are available for your family to continue in the scouting adventure as The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints goes through its relationship change from an Institutional model to an individual one. The church has indicated that their new program will encourage to set and achieve quality goals for personal growth. We in scouting would like to partnership with your family to help your children excel in developing critical leadership and life skills.

Most of our community based units will be starting a fresh scouting year when the youth return to school at the end of August and they would like to meet you at that time and include you with their unit plans for activity and advancement.

Scouting allows for families to dual register in more than one unit at a time. This will allow your children the opportunity start working with a new cub pack family while still participating in the final celebratory events for your church pack. This is important so that they don't miss out on advancement and award opportunities for this next school year.

Most of these cub packs have dens for younger youth (beyond that which was available in the LDS Church packs) such as Lions (kindergartners) and Tigers (1st graders). Also some of our cub packs have dens for both girls and boys (designated family packs), thus allowing families the opportunity to go to just one location to find a scouting adventure for everyone.

Also if your youth is entering the 5th Grade this year, he can advance to a scout troop in the year-round Scouts BSA program. We have a new scout troop for LDS boys organizing now in your area (contact info below).

Below is a list of a community scout packs that meet in your area. More info on these and other units in your area is also available at our website http://BeAScout.org. Feel free to contact me or the scout pack directly if you have any further questions.
