Inside Government is a legacy badge for Junior Girl Scouts. Other Girl Scout badges in the Citizen category include: Celebrating Community for Brownie Girl Scouts, Finding Common Ground for Cadette Girl Scouts, Behind the Ballot for Senior Girl Scouts and Public Policy for Ambassador Girl Scouts. The purpose of the is badge is to learn more about how government is run.


Requirements

  1. Decide what being an active citizen means to you
    • Be an active citizen in action OR
    • Take a poll OR
    • Get a global view
  2. Go inside government
    • Visit a branch of the city, town, county, or state government OR
    • Interview an elected official OR
    • Chart the government structure for your school detract, town, county, or state
  3. Look into laws
    • Hold a mock vote on community laws OR
    • For 24 hours, list the laws that affect your daily life OR
    • Think about laws you might propose someday
  4. Report on the issues
    • Report on a government meeting OR
    • Follow the local news every day for one week OR
    • Interview a local historian or longtime citizen
  5. Get involved in government
    • Plan a campaign as if you were running for office OR
    • Work on someone else's campaign OR
    • Create a pamphlet or poster
