This document describes the process of importing articles from Wikipedia to ScoutWiki. Please adhere to the process or question the correctness of it.

Wikipedia is a good source also for scouting-related articles. Sometimes it's useful to import these to ScoutWiki instead of linking to Wikipedia. This can be done because both Wikipedia and ScoutWiki use the GNU Free Documentation License, ”GFDL”. However, in order to comply with the license terms and thus not be in a direct violation of the license, the authors of the article must be given appropriate credit.

There are several ways to do this. The current recommendation at ScoutWiki is to link to the specific revision that was imported in the ”Summary” field of the edit in which the article is imported. This link may be obtained by right-clicking the ”Permanent link” link on the left side navigation bar of the imported page and select "Copy link address" or equivalent.
