Dorset Scouts
Dorset Scout County
Dorset Scout County is concurrent with the political county of Dorset, and provides Scouting opportunities for young people and adults in the area.[1]
The County is currently divided into 8 Scout Districts:[2]
- Bournemouth
- Christchurch
- Dorchester& West Dorset
- East Dorset
- North Dorset
- Poole
- Wareham and Isle of Purbeck
- Weymouth and Portland
The Largest District for Numbers of Groups is Bournemouth, with a total of 22 Scout Groups, the Largest for Area Covered is North Dorset, and the Most Historic is Poole District, with 3 Founder Groups included, (1stHamworthy, Broadstone & 1st Parkstone)
Brownsea Island Camp Site is Run in Partnership between Poole, & Wareham and Isle of Purbeck Districts together with the National Trust.
The County runs its own Adult Training Section - Dorset Adult Training Team, Has a Full County Team of Scout Commissioners and also has its own Scout Active Support Unit and Network Scout Unit. It also has its own Head Quarters at Buddens Farm in Wareham, which is also the County Scout Camp Site.

Each District is Split in to a number of Scout Groups, and each district also run a number of Explorer Scout Sections and Scout Active Support Units. Each District is under the direction of a District Commissioner and number of Assistant and Deputy Commissioners.
