Camp Cherry Valley (sponsored by Greater Los Angeles Area Council (GLAAC) is one of the most popular BSA Scout Camp Facilities in the Wester USA. It is located on Santa Catalina Island about 15 miles off the California coastline. They hold upto 9 resident summer camp sessions each year with a bit of a waiting list to get in.

Overview

Camp Cherry Valley offers opportunities for many water sports including world-class snorkeling, SCUBA diving, canoeing, rowing, sailing and swimming. Because it is located on the leeward side of the island, the cove is calm making it a perfect place for lots of fun in the water. Hikes over mountainous terrain, war canoe races, touring an old silver mine, a sea lab with a touch tank so you can learn about local marine life is available.

Camping in comfortable platform tents under a unique variety of cherry trees, a dining hall and more. There are additional programs offered in spring and at the end of the summer for all levels in Scouting and family camping.

Tribe of Torqua

Unique, native wildlife roams the 157 acre camp under the canopy of the native Catalina Island Cherry trees. The calm, crystal-clear cove waters are a safe haven for hundreds of species of marine life. Established in 1921, the camp was originally operated by the Pasadena Council by Camp Director Skipper Robison. He established traditions that are still alive today, most notably the Tribe of Torqua, the Camp Cherry Valley Honor and Leadershipbrotherhood. Scouts who return to Cherry Valley advance within the ranks of the tribe.


Cub Resident Camp : August

Two Cub Scout resident camp sessions are available in the late summer each year at Camp Cherry Valley. This adventure is only open to Bears and Webelos that register by Pack.

The four day/ three night adventure features a different special theme each year. Activities include Camping, Campfires, Scoutcraft, Hiking, Kayaking, Swimming, Archery, BB Guns and Great Camp Food.

Webelos Golden Nugget : September

Webelos Golden Nugget are available in the late summer each year at Camp Cherry Valley. Choose from two weekend sessions specifically planned for Webelos dens to work on advancement and have lots of fun in camp. Camp offers comfortable, large, two-person platform tents, hot showers, great food and a great staff.

Activities include - Aquanaut, Archery, BB Gun Shooting, Campfire Program, Kayaking, Nature Hikes, Patch Trading, Snorkeling Swmming and AOL Advancement electives.

GLAAC Council

This lodge is part of The Greater Los Angeles Area Council (GLAAC), which proudly serves youth members and volunteer leaders through Scout units in Southern California. It is a local council (#033) of the Boy Scouts of America. All youth are invited to join scouting.
