The World Scout Foundation provides financial support for the growth and development of Scouting worldwide under the aegis of the World Organization of the Scout Movement. It sources capital donations from individuals, foundations, corporations, governments to provide the expansion of the Scouting movement worldwide. It also solicits non-capital donations for specific projects, such as the Gifts of Peace project [1].

Organisation

The Foundation is governed by a board of Scouters from across the world. Its headquarters is in Geneva, Switzerland. [2]. This voluntary board has 26 members and meets twice a year. The Honorary President is Carl XVI Gustaf, King of Sweden who actively participates in the activities of the foundation and under whose partronage the foundation has gone from strength to strength.

Campaigns

The Baden-Powell World Fellowship

Total donations in excess of US$ 10,000 entitle donors to membership of the Baden-Powell World Fellowship. The fellowship now has more than 1,000 members in 60 countries and territories.

The Queen Silvia Fund

This fund is an endowment which enables projects involving handicapped Scouts all over the world. Its inception commemorates the 50th birthday celebration of Her Majesty Queen Silvia of Sweden. The initial gifts of over US$ 100,000 came from the members of the World Scout Foundation's Baden-Powell World Fellowship and the endowment now stands at US$ 250,00 dollars. In 2003 a grant of US$ 10,000 was presented to the Eurasia Scout Region to help disabled street children have the prospect of a better life. The patroness supervises all grants personally.
