The Learning Objectives set out the kind of development that young people might expect to have attained in each growth area (SPICES) by the time they have completed the youth programme. Scouting Ireland sets out 6 Areas of Growth; Social, Physical, Intellectual, Character, Emotional, Spiritual - the SPICES. As they progress through the youth programme, each youth member is expected to acquire knowledge, skills and attitudes in each Area of Growth. Learning Objectives help us to focus on what each young person is capable of in each Area of Growth as they move through each stage of their development. Through ‘Learning by Doing’, the youth programme provides many opportunities to obtain knowledge and learning.
