Padvinders Buiten Centrum (PBC) Austerlitz is a large scout centre in the woods around the dutch village Austerlitz in the Utrecht Hill Ridge (dutch; Utrechtse Heuvelrug). The PBC Austerlitz is located on this site since 1984. Between 1949 and 1984 it was located 700 meters (765 yd) to the east-northeast. The terrain had to move because the province and the ‘State Forest Management’ decided that the woods of Austerlitz should become a silent area. Because the drinking water quality was declining the move was not a very big issue.
Usage
In the forest are a few grass campsites all the rest consists of woodlands. There’s space form 21 groups and some backpackers. Every campsite offers space to one staff tent, 4 patrol tents and still has enough grounds for sports and games. Some of the sites are larger and offer space to more then one group. The PBC has a small store which offers badges, some scouts accessories and candy. There is a shelter and a campfire pit. The centre offers wood fore pioneering.
PBC Austerlitz is labeled as a ‘Labelterrein’ which is a quality mark given by Scouting Nederland. Just 10 kilometers (6,2 mi) from the the PBC is the Scoutcentrum Buitenzorg. A hike between the sites is possible.
