Eagle River Scout Camp, is located far enough South in Alaska that there is dusk and night. It is not uncommon to see a cruise ship lit up at night making its way up the channel after campfire.
Camp Attractions
The camp is in a rain forest so be prepared with proper boots and rain gear to have the most positive experience while enjoying seeing the eagles, whales, sea lions and other animals that call this area home. Friday night campfires are always a big hit!
Troops arrive Sunday afternoon and take the 1.3 mile walk with their personal gear into camp. Scouts and Leaders stay in one of the camp's cabins spread through out camp and enjoy eating all of their meals in the dining hall that overlooks Favorite Channel.
Getting there is half the fun. For those traveling to camp from outside Juneau, the camp will make arrangements to pick you up from the airport or ferry and bring you to and from camp. The Council Office can also help with travel from Anchorage or the lower 48 to camp.
Camp activities are scheduled around the tide so merit badge and activity times are scheduled to maximize both high and low tides.
